Chief Operating Officer
Erica Estrella, the newest addition to the My Local Chefs team, brings ten years of leadership experience, starting as a business owner in 2013 for a thriving event planning company in Orange County, California. As a small business owner, Erica gained invaluable experience in business management, operations, marketing, and client relations.
In 2015, Erica was hired exclusively to coordinate fundraising events and invited to sit on the senior leadership team for Align International, a nonprofit organization committed to create a world where the poorest of the poor have access to the daily essentials needed to live life with dignity. As part of the senior leadership team, Erica led numerous tactics to effectively meet strategies while building a healthy infrastructure to sustain growth. Erica initiated and was responsible for the execution of the incorporation of a custom online automated child sponsorship platform, which resulted in the greatest annual gain of child sponsorships in the organization’s nine year history. Additionally, the platform reduced staff efforts required to assist sponsors. This allowed team members to utilize time to complete tasks that were previously unmet.
In 2017 Erica accepted the Director of Operations position with Align International, moved into the role of interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2019, and officially stepped into the role of CEO of the organization in 2020. Under her leadership, the organization thrived despite unprecedented challenges of economic turbulence due to the Covid 19 pandemic. During Erica’s years as CEO, the organization experienced over 30% in revenue growth and improved effectiveness of global programs through consistent quality of communication, reporting, evaluation, and rightsizing. Erica had overall strategic and operational responsibility for Align’s support teams in the U.S. and Uganda while leading the organization toward its mission. Align funded numerous programs improving the lives of thousands of people in the impoverished Uganda communities of Kakooge, Bombo, and Wobulenzi to meet its vision during Erica’s time as CEO; school refurbishments, provision of essential care, emergency food assistance, scholarships for college or trade school students, and alternative living facilities for children rescued from abandonment or abuse.
Erica is dedicated to supporting the CEO of My Local Chefs in her vision and initiatives during this next chapter as the COO of the company.
