Peaches are sweet, dark yellow colored drupe fruits that farmers harvest in the summer months. Drupe fruits are fleshy, thin skinned fruits with a central stone (commonly known as a pit) that houses the seed. Other examples of drupes include apricots, plums, avocadoes, and cherries. Peaches contain Vitamins A and C, potassium, and fiber. These vitamins and minerals are important for maintaining visual health, protecting the cells in our bodies, reducing blood pressure, and supporting the digestive system. This recipe combines frozen peaches and classic pie spices to create a healthy and tasty dessert. Nikki Santillo is a UConn CAHNR student and summer intern with our EFNEP program.
