How Much Fiber Should I Be Eating Per Day?


Daily fiber needs are different for women and men.

Women 19-50 years old      25 grams

Women >50 years old      21 grams

Men 19-50 years old        38 grams

Men >50 years old 30 grams

Children need about 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories they eat. Here are some general guidelines for daily fiber needs for kids:

1-3 years old      19 grams

4-8 years old      25 grams

Girls 9-13 years old      26 grams

Boys 9-13 years old      31 grams

Girls 14-18 years old      26 grams

Boys 14-18 years old      38 grams
